Confirm these before any replacement ships.

This list is the same for every model. It is what turns a replacement direction into a replacement that actually works on the counter.

  1. Read the complete model number from the identification label, not from the family name or appearance.
  2. Record whether the keyboard is flat or raised and how employees enter items.
  3. List every connected device with its model number: scanner, scale, customer display, kitchen or remote printer, cash drawer, payment terminal.
  4. Note which reports the owner actually relies on and how often they are run.
  5. Estimate the department, PLU and item counts in current use.
  6. Print useful reports and back up programming before making broad changes to the old register.
  7. Confirm whether any programming or data is expected to transfer, and treat that as unverified until checked.
  8. Confirm receipt and journal expectations, including paper width and whether a journal record is required.
  9. Confirm every peripheral against the replacement model rather than the old one; a connector that fits does not establish compatibility.

We need the exact model before giving model-specific programming or troubleshooting steps. Families look alike and their procedures differ, so the wrong instructions can cost you the programming that is already on the machine.

The complete model number is printed in at least one of these places:

  • Front model label on the register body
  • Rear or bottom label, usually beside the ports
  • Service sticker applied by whoever installed it
  • Receipt header, if it was programmed with the model
  • Keyboard sheet or key overlay legend
  • Manual cover, if the original paperwork is still around
  • Display or badge markings on the operator screen surround

Read the whole string, not just the family — the trailing letters change the machine. If it is unreadable, a photo of the label works.

Financing and leasing are different things

Financing means you are buying the equipment and paying for it over time. Leasing means you are paying to use it under the terms of a lease, and ownership at the end is whatever that lease says it is — sometimes a purchase option, sometimes a return. We will always tell you which one a quote is, and we will not describe a lease as if it were a purchase.

We do not publish rates, terms or payment amounts, because those come from the finance or leasing provider and depend on the amount, the equipment and their own review of your business.
