Old register replacement finder
What model are you replacing?
Find the old model below to see the current replacement direction, what still has to be confirmed, and whether a specific current product has been established as the exact replacement. If the old model is not listed, send us the model number and we will identify the path.
You currently have
Casio cash register
Replacing an Older Casio Cash Register
Current replacement direction
Current SAM4S register or POS direction based on keyboard style and business workflow
Businesses replacing legacy Casio registers often want to preserve simple department, PLU, receipt and cashier operation. The closest current direction depends on whether the old setup is basic, scanner-driven, menu-driven or has outgrown a traditional register.
No published one-to-one match
We have not established a single current product as the exact replacement for this model, so we will not guess one. Send us these details and we will identify the closest supported path:
- Exact old model from the label
- Photo of the keyboard
- Flat or raised keys
- Business type
- Receipt or journal setup
- Scanner / scale / printer models
- Cash drawer model
- Reports the owner relies on
- Approximate item or PLU count
- Programming you need preserved
Before ordering
Send the exact Casio model, business type, keyboard photo, receipt, item or department count, scanner/peripheral models and payment workflow. Programming should be treated as a recreation or migration unless an exact transfer method is verified.
Programming transfer
Need the programming moved to your new register?
Start the setup worksheet and it will arrive with your old register (Casio cash register) already recorded, so you do not retype it. Whether any programming or data can actually be carried across is confirmed against both machines first — it is never assumed from the model.

Older ER-180
Replacing an Older ER-180
Current replacement direction
ER-180U, ER-260EJ or ER-265EJ
The ER-180U remains a current SAM4S model for straightforward checkout. If the business needs greater item capacity, connectivity, peripherals or reporting, the ER-260EJ or ER-265EJ may be a better current direction; choose keyboard style from the actual workflow.

For an older ER-180 or any true replacement, confirm the exact model, keyboard style, programming, peripherals, payment equipment, reports and data-transfer expectations before ordering. Start the programming-transfer worksheet →Migration checklist
Confirm these before any replacement ships.
This list is the same for every model. It is what turns a replacement direction into a replacement that actually works on the counter.
- Read the complete model number from the identification label, not from the family name or appearance.
- Record whether the keyboard is flat or raised and how employees enter items.
- List every connected device with its model number: scanner, scale, customer display, kitchen or remote printer, cash drawer, payment terminal.
- Note which reports the owner actually relies on and how often they are run.
- Estimate the department, PLU and item counts in current use.
- Print useful reports and back up programming before making broad changes to the old register.
- Confirm whether any programming or data is expected to transfer, and treat that as unverified until checked.
- Confirm receipt and journal expectations, including paper width and whether a journal record is required.
- Confirm every peripheral against the replacement model rather than the old one; a connector that fits does not establish compatibility.
Model-first help
Getting model-specific help
We need the exact model before giving model-specific programming or troubleshooting steps. Families look alike and their procedures differ, so the wrong instructions can cost you the programming that is already on the machine.
The complete model number is printed in at least one of these places:
- Front model label on the register body
- Rear or bottom label, usually beside the ports
- Service sticker applied by whoever installed it
- Receipt header, if it was programmed with the model
- Keyboard sheet or key overlay legend
- Manual cover, if the original paperwork is still around
- Display or badge markings on the operator screen surround
Read the whole string, not just the family — the trailing letters change the machine. If it is unreadable, a photo of the label works.
- 1 Find the documentation Manuals and guides published for that exact model. Manual & documentation center →
- 2 Check the message or code Where a table has been published for the family, it is shown with its source. Where none has been, we say so rather than guess a meaning. Error codes & display messages →
- 3 Ask the SAM4s Expert Model identification, comparisons, specifications, manuals, compatibility and replacement questions, and plain-English explanations. Tell it the model and what you are trying to do. Ask the SAM4s Expert → “What SAM4s model do you have, and what are you trying to program or fix?”
- 4 Bring in a technician Register down, a programming change you would rather not make yourself, or anything the steps above did not settle. The intake checks any purchase record and existing coverage before paid support is discussed. Start a support request →
