Closest alternatives

  • NR-510BE if staff ring a large menu from preset item keys, as in food service. It is the same register otherwise.
  • ER-925E if you need a larger keyboard and item file: 21 keyboard PLU keys, expandable to 63, and up to 22,000 PLUs.

About the NR-510RBE

What it is and who it fits

The NR-510RBE is the raised-key model in the NR-510E Series. Its 48 keys hold 32 programmable locations, of which 12 are keyboard PLU keys that work like traditional departments for open-priced entries or as preset-price keys. Large key size keeps the labels easy to read. Everything else - printer, displays, capacity and ports - is the same as the NR-510BE.

Best fit

  • CRS positions the NR-510RBE for retail merchants: retail, gift shops, convenience stores, beer, wine and liquor, specialty food, produce, meat and main-street merchants (manufacturer positioning, LIT-408)
  • Counters that ring by department or preset-price key, with large, easy-to-read keys
  • Stores that scan: not-found PLU registration builds the item file as you go
  • Receipt-only printing, with the journal kept electronically and saved or polled to a PC

Consider a different model when

  • NR-510BE if staff ring a large menu from preset item keys, as in food service. It is the same register otherwise.
  • ER-925E if you need a larger keyboard and item file: 21 keyboard PLU keys, expandable to 63, and up to 22,000 PLUs.

These are workflow differences, not quality rankings.

Key features

  • One thermal receipt printer. 15 lines per second on 58 mm paper, up to 32 characters per line, with drop-and-print loading. Up to a 6-line preamble and 6-line postamble, and an optional graphic logo.
  • Electronic journal. Up to 30,000 lines kept in memory, archived for printing at end of day, and polled and collected by a PC using the included eSpresso utility.
  • Raised keyboard. 48 keys and 32 programmable locations, of which 12 are keyboard PLU keys. They act like traditional departments for open-priced entries, or can be set as preset-price keys.
  • Operator and customer displays. An adjustable 192 x 64 graphic blue backlit LCD names each item as it is entered, and a rear two-line, 16-character backlit turret display shows the customer prices and the total.
  • Scanning. The USB port is documented for a scanner, and not-found PLU registration builds the item file as you scan. Which scanner fits which register
  • Card payments. Semi-integrated credit, debit and gift card processing over the Ethernet port, using Datacap with an appropriate PIN pad and a persistent internet connection. No card information is stored in the register. It is optional: you can buy this register and keep your current processor. How integrated processing works
  • Ports and storage. Three serial ports (two RJ45, one DB9F), one USB port for a scanner, save and load or a PC interface, and an SD slot for saving programs and reports.
  • Documented peripherals. Kitchen printer, slip printer, scale, scanner and pole display, plus PC communications with optional polling software.
  • Everyday capacity. Up to 500 hard or soft guest checks, 2 price levels per PLU, 100 mix and match discounts, 4 tax rates or tables and up to 99 group totals.
  • Security and cash control. Voids, reporting and programming are restricted by the manager's key lock, with enforced closed drawer and an open-drawer alarm.
  • Languages. English, Spanish or French.

Electronic journal. This register can keep journal records electronically inside the machine rather than only on paper. That is an electronic recordkeeping capability, not an extra print station: it does not add a second built-in printer, and it is not an external kitchen or remote impact printer.

Accessories, supplies and support

Hardware compatibility

Compatibility review statusVerification required

Documented in:NR-510E Series BrochureNR-500 Operator-Programming ManualNR-500E / NR-510 Help

Verification is still required for the exact interface, connector or cable, available power, firmware and programming before this hardware should be ordered for the register.

A connector that physically fits does not by itself establish compatibility. Interface, cable, protocol, firmware and programming can all matter, so anything not marked as established should be confirmed with us before you order. Ask us to confirm a pairing.

Programming & support

Support and programming are sold as time blocks at $100 per hour, or $50 for a 30-minute block, Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM Eastern. There is no 24/7 line. You do not need to have bought the register from us.

Supplies

This model uses 58 mm (2.25 in) receipt paper. Check the roll diameter your printer accepts as well as the width, since width alone does not guarantee fit.

Taking card payments too? Processing is a separate decision from the register, and you can buy any register, package, support or programming here without changing processors. If you want a second opinion on your current statement, equipment and pricing, we can review it.

Verified accessories

Accessories documented for this register

These are exact products, matched to this exact register. Anything not listed here is not ruled out — it simply has not been verified yet, and we would rather tell you that than sell you a guess.

Documented does not mean plug-and-play: port programming, baud settings and the correct cable still have to be right, and that is what we confirm with you before anything ships.

Before you add accessories Compatibility depends on the exact register model, interface, cable, firmware and programming. We verify the correct configuration before recommending an accessory.

Replacement & upgrade

Coming from an older register?

Replacing ER-650 / ER-650R Options to discuss, not an established replacement
ER-650 / ER-650R→ER-940E, NR-510RBE, SAP-630II or SAM4POS

This older higher-end register may require either a current commercial register or a broader hybrid/POS upgrade based on the advanced functions actually used.

Confirm the exact old model, keyboard style, programming, scanners, scales, printers, cash drawer, payment equipment, reports and data-transfer expectations before ordering. Do not assume existing programming or peripherals transfer directly.
Replacing Older NR-500 / NR-510 Series Closest current SAM4S fit, based on the documented feature comparison
Older NR-500 / NR-510 Series→NR-510B → NR-510BE · NR-510RB → NR-510RBE

One CRS NR-500 series manual covers the older NR-510 and the current E models, which add an Ethernet port for DC Direct payments. The keyboard and printer configurations match, so this is the closest current fit based on documented features, not a manufacturer replacement statement.

Confirm the exact old model, keyboard style, programming, scanners, scales, printers, cash drawer, payment equipment, reports and data-transfer expectations before ordering. Do not assume existing programming or peripherals transfer directly.
Replacement guidance is advisory, not a confirmed one-to-one mapping.

Before ordering a replacement we confirm:

Existing programming and peripherals do not automatically transfer to a new register. Send us the exact old model and we will check it against your workflow before anything is ordered.
