SAM4S SPS-2000 / SPS-2200 Help, Manuals & Replacement
Need help with a SAM4S SPS-2000 or SPS-2200? These are older SAM4S systems that we no longer sell. Installations vary, so the first step is working out which functions you still use before choosing anything to replace them.

Identify the exact model
Read the full model number from the label on your terminal. We hold documents for the SPS-2000 and show identification photos for it. We do not have a verified SPS-2200 photo or a separate SPS-2200 manual in our set, so if yours is an SPS-2200, send us the label and we will confirm which document applies.
Manuals and everyday questions
Where are the SPS-2000 manuals?
Our manual center lists the SPS-2000 Program Reference Manual (v1.43, 2013) and the SPS-2000 Operator Manual (v1.29, 2013). Use them only for the SPS-2000, because key sequences and procedures differ between SAM4S families.
Is there a manual for the SPS-1000?
The manual center also lists an SPS-1000 Program Manual (v2.2, 2005). The SPS-1000 is a different model from the SPS-2000, so do not use one document for the other.
How do I program prices, tax and items on an SPS-2000?
Use the SPS-2000 Program Reference Manual for your exact model and follow its steps rather than instructions written for a different register. Before you change anything, print the reports you rely on and write down your tax settings, item prices, clerk setup and any kitchen or remote printing, then test one known item after each change.
If you would rather not do it yourself, one-time remote support and programming is available even for a register bought elsewhere. Buy remote support or programming
Should I reset or clear the memory on an SPS-2000 or SPS-2200?
Not as a general fix. A memory clear or initialization can erase your whole program, which can include item files and printer routing, so identify the exact symptom first and protect your current setup and reports.
What do the error messages mean?
We have not published an SPS-2000 or SPS-2200 error table, so do not read a code across from another register. Check the message against the SPS-2000 manual and send us the exact wording and what you were doing when it appeared.

Replacing an SPS-2000 or SPS-2200
Is the SPS-2000 discontinued, and what replaces it?
We no longer sell the SPS-2000 or SPS-2200. There is no one-model replacement, because installations vary. Our recommended direction is a configured SAM4POS setup, and the SAP-630II, a hybrid touchscreen terminal with a flat or raised-key keyboard, is one possible terminal. It is not a guaranteed complete replacement, so every register, payment device and kitchen workflow has to be confirmed before you buy.

Can a basic cash register replace an SPS-2000 or SPS-2200?
Sometimes, but not always. If your setup uses tables, kitchen printing, networked registers or back-office reporting, a basic electronic cash register is unlikely to cover it, and a SAM4POS system is worth comparing. If you only ring simple sales at one counter, a current SAM4S register may be enough. A register is not a POS system, so decide by the functions you actually use.

Can the programming from my SPS-2000 be moved to a new system?
Do not assume it can. We do not promise automatic conversion of old programming. Your items, tables, clerks, kitchen routing and connected devices decide what can be carried over and what has to be rebuilt, so keep your reports and settings and let us review the scope.
Can SAM4sDirect set up the replacement before it ships?
Yes. Programming and setup help is available for replacement systems, and for a current register you can choose Programmed & Ready on its page. Multi-register, kitchen and migration projects are scoped and quoted separately, so tell us what you run today.

Is there help paying for a replacement system?
Eligible approved merchants may qualify for up to $500 in merchant-processing rebate value toward eligible equipment, programming, setup or approved switching costs. Qualification depends on processing volume, approval, program availability and the final package, and no processor change is required to buy.

For this model
Which manual do you need?
Operating a register and reprogramming it are two different documents.
Find the complete model number on the identification label first, then look for the document that matches the job you are doing. Registers that look alike can use different procedures, so a manual for a neighbouring model is not a substitute. If only one document exists for your model, that is normal for some families.

- Day-to-day selling: ringing items, tenders, voids, opening the drawer, changing paper, and running the reports a manager needs.
- Programming or service manual
- Setup and changes: taxes, departments, PLUs, prices, receipt messages, clerks, keyboard functions and system options.
- Quick reference or setup sheet
- A short guide for first installation and the most common daily tasks. Useful, but rarely enough for programming changes.
- PC utility documentation
- Only relevant if your model is supported by a PC tool and you have the matching cable or interface. Confirm the model before assuming a utility applies.
How paid help works
Straightforward remote support, billed by the block.
Remote support and programming are sold as time blocks, so you only pay for the work the register actually needs. We do not require a service contract, and we do not turn away a register because it was bought from another dealer, bought used, or came with the business.
- $100 per hour for remote support and programming
- $50 for a 30-minute block
- Support hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern - there is no 24/7 emergency line
- No contract required; ongoing coverage is available separately
- You do not need to have bought the register from us
What to send us
These are the same details the checkout asks for when you buy a support or programming block, so nothing is wasted.
- Exact model from the label
- Serial number if visible
- Photo of the keyboard
- What the register is doing now
- The change or fix you need
- Connected scanner / drawer / printer models
- Recent changes to the register
