Payments Solution Center

Where would you like to start?

Five ways in. Pick the one that sounds like you — we will take it from there, and if your current setup is fine we will tell you that too.

Two ways a cash register and card payments fit together

A separate terminal beside the register

The card machine works on its own. You ring the sale on the register, key the amount into the terminal and take the payment. It is simple, it is dependable, and the terminal can often be the one your processor already gives you.

Most businesses run this way, and there is nothing second-rate about it.

An integrated or semi-integrated setup

The sale total passes from the register or POS to the payment device, so nobody keys the amount twice. It removes a class of mistake at a busy counter.

Whether it is possible depends on the exact register, software, terminal, processor and configuration — so we verify a specific combination rather than assume it.

What actually decides what you pay

Almost every merchant who thinks they are overpaying is looking at one number — the rate on the front of the statement. That number is rarely the whole cost, and two businesses on the identical rate can pay very different amounts.

The card mix you happen to take

A rewards card, a business card and a plain debit card do not cost the same to accept. A counter that takes a lot of premium credit costs more to run than one taking mostly debit, on the same agreement.

How the sale is entered

A card that is tapped or inserted is priced differently from one keyed in by hand. If a share of your sales get keyed because of how the counter is set up, that shows up in the total every month.

The line items that are not the rate

Monthly fees, statement fees, gateway fees, PCI fees, batch fees and equipment charges. None of them appear in the headline percentage, and together they are often the difference somebody is feeling.

Your average sale

A fixed per-transaction charge barely registers on a $90 ticket and is significant on a $4 one. This is why the same agreement suits a furniture shop and punishes a coffee counter.

This is also why we will not tell you what you could save before reading a statement. The information needed to answer that question is not on this page, and it is not something you should have to guess at either.

What happens if you get in touch

  1. You tell us what you are trying to do. A few questions here, or a phone call — whichever you prefer. Nothing is submitted until you send it.
  2. We look at what you actually have. The register or POS, how cards are taken today, and a statement if you are asking about cost. If something needs verifying before we can recommend it, we say so rather than assuming.
  3. You get a straight answer. That includes "your current setup looks reasonable, keep it" — which is a real outcome here, not a formality.
  4. You decide. Nothing is switched, ordered or signed on your behalf, and there is no cost to having been asked.

Why the register and the processing come from the same place

The usual arrangement is that one company sells the register and somebody else handles the card payments — and when the two do not get on, each points at the other. The counter stops working and nobody owns the problem.

We sell the registers, program them, support them and arrange the processing, so there is one team to call. That is the whole of the claim: it does not make any particular register work with any particular terminal. Where an integration has not been verified for your exact equipment, we will tell you it needs verifying rather than let you find out at the counter.

Things worth saying plainly

  • You do not have to change processors to buy anything from us. Registers, programming, supplies and support are all available on their own.
  • You do not need to buy a register to get processing from us. Plenty of merchants only need the payment side sorted out.
  • We will not quote a saving before reading a statement. A percentage produced without your numbers is a guess dressed up as a promise.
  • Switching is usually less disruptive than people expect — but it depends on your equipment, your integration and any agreement you are already in, so we look at those first.

Cash register + payment processing guidance

Connect the register and payment plan before you commit

SAM4sDirect helps businesses choose a register, payment terminal and merchant-processing path as one working checkout system.

Equipment-awareRegister and terminal compatibility come first
Complete-cost reviewNot just a headline processing rate
Guided applicationApply after the program and equipment fit are clear

One coordinated decision

The processor should fit the checkout—not force the wrong hardware

We begin with the business type, register or POS system, payment terminal, transaction volume and number of locations. That gives us enough context to compare the complete setup and avoid preventable compatibility problems.

01

Tell us what you use

Business type, current register or POS, terminal model, locations, lanes and processing goals.

02

Review the full cost

Rates, monthly fees, equipment, contract terms and workflow are considered together.

03

Match the path

We confirm the equipment and program fit before directing you to an application.

Verified program information

What we can place today

Only programs confirmed with our processing partners are shown here. Anything not yet confirmed stays unpublished rather than implied.

Confirmed program paths

  • Interchange-plus pricing
  • Cash discount
  • Dual pricing

Confirmed merchant coverage

Continental United States, Alaska, and Hawaii

Which program and provider fit your business depends on your card volume, transaction mix, equipment and any agreement you are already in. We work that out with you during the review rather than asking you to pick a provider from a page.

Approval, pricing, equipment, funding and program availability are subject to underwriting, the provider's credit policy, and a written merchant agreement. Nothing here is an offer or a guarantee of approval.

Straight answers

Before you change anything

Do I have to change processors to buy a SAM4S register?

No. A processor change is not required to buy a register. We discuss processing separately when it could improve the complete checkout setup.

Can you guarantee that I will save money?

No. A responsible comparison requires the complete statement, equipment requirements, business mix and written program terms. We compare the full cost and workflow rather than promise savings from a single rate.

Can I keep my existing payment terminal?

Possibly. Compatibility depends on the processor, platform, gateway, terminal model, interface, cabling and whether the payment flow is separate or integrated. We verify the exact configuration before recommending it.

Why review the register and terminal together?

A register may support a separate terminal without supporting a particular integrated payment connection. Confirming the full workflow prevents equipment and programming surprises.

Two things worth reading before you decide: what PCI responsibility actually covers when a register takes cards, and how Florida service charges and card surcharges affect register programming.

Next step

Start with the facts you already have

A recent statement and the model names from your counter are enough to begin.

Switching assistance

If changing processors makes sense, we also look at the cost of making the change

Up to $500 in switching assistance

You may qualify for up to $500 toward eligible payment equipment, setup or programming, or documented switching costs. What you qualify for depends on your equipment, processing volume, the program you move to, underwriting and the written offer terms. We review your current setup and statement first, then show any approved assistance in writing.

Payment equipment

We first check whether the equipment you already have can stay. If replacement equipment is needed, we can review available equipment assistance and show the exact terms before you decide.

Setup & programming

Some qualifying proposals may include reduced or waived SAM4sDirect setup or programming work. Any credit or waiver is shown on the written proposal rather than assumed from a promotion.

Contract or equipment lease

If your current arrangement has an early-termination cost, equipment lease or payoff obligation, send the documentation with your review. We can determine whether switching assistance is available; your existing agreement remains between you and that provider.

Rate & fee comparison

We compare the complete current cost with the written proposed cost, including recurring fees and equipment where relevant. If your current arrangement is already the better choice, staying with it is a valid outcome.

Where the assistance comes from

Today this assistance is provided by SAM4sDirect. If a particular processing program contributes to your proposal as well, that will be stated in the proposal itself. Either way the help is itemized, so you can see exactly what is being credited and what you are responsible for.

No obligation to switch. Program availability, equipment, credits, pricing and approval vary by merchant and written offer terms. We do not make a switching recommendation until we have reviewed the facts of your current setup.

Compare the complete processing setup

The lowest-looking rate is not always the lowest total cost.

We compare the processor-controlled costs, payment method mix, equipment and contract terms that affect what a merchant actually pays and how the checkout works.

Interchange-plus

Useful when you want card-brand interchange and network costs separated from the processor markup instead of blended into one headline rate.

Dual pricing & cash discount

We review the program structure, terminal workflow, signage and applicable requirements before recommending this approach.

Debit, EBT & card mix

PIN debit, EBT, American Express, keyed transactions and average ticket can materially change which pricing structure makes sense.

Processor fit

Your volume, card mix, equipment and any agreement you are already in decide which processing path suits you. We compare those against the programmes we can place and recommend one, rather than asking you to choose a provider before anyone has looked at your setup.

What we compare

More than just basis points.

  • Processor markup and per-transaction charges
  • Monthly, compliance, PCI and tokenization charges
  • Debit, EBT, AVS, American Express and batch costs
  • Chargeback and exception fees
  • Terminal, register and integration requirements
  • Contract term, cancellation exposure and funding needs

Have a recent merchant statement?

Send the complete statement and tell us what register or POS system you use. We can compare the processor-controlled charges and the complete checkout fit without promising savings that the numbers do not support.

Request a statement review

Card-brand interchange, assessments and other network charges vary by card type, transaction method and program. Processing programs, rates, equipment and merchant approval are subject to underwriting and written agreement terms. Program availability and requirements can vary by jurisdiction and card-brand rules.

Build your setup

Build a register and payment setup

A few questions, then a configuration you can either buy or have us verify. We will say which one it is, and why.

What this asks you

  1. Your business type — retail, food service, liquor, convenience, grocery or a service counter. It decides which registers are worth showing.
  2. The register — raised-key suits item and barcode entry; flat keyboards suit menu-driven ordering.
  3. Barcode scanning — including whether you already own a scanner we should check.
  4. Printing — the receipt printer, the internal journal station, an external receipt printer and a kitchen printer are four different things, and only the last one prints in a prep area.
  5. Other peripherals — a cash drawer is already included with every current register we sell, so it is listed, not sold to you again.
  6. Programming — departments, items, taxes, clerks, tenders and menu keys, quoted before any work starts.
  7. Card processing — optional. You do not need to change processors to buy a register from us.

At the end you get one of three answers: a package you can buy, a package to configure, or verification required — which means one part of the combination is not proven yet and we will confirm it before you spend anything. We would rather tell you that than sell you a scanner that turns out not to talk to your register.

How card pricing works

Three ways to price card acceptance

There is more than one way to price card acceptance, and the differences show up on your customer's receipt as much as on your statement. Here is what each one actually means.

Traditional processing

One shelf price for everybody. You pay the processing cost out of your margin, and it appears on your monthly statement rather than on the customer's receipt.

What the customer sees: one price, whichever way they pay.

Cash discount

The posted price covers the cost of card acceptance, and customers paying cash are given a discount from it. The discount is the mechanism, which is what distinguishes it from adding something on at the end.

What the customer sees: a posted price, and a reduction if they pay cash.

Dual pricing

Two prices are shown up front — one for cash, one for card — so the customer chooses knowing both before they get to the counter.

What the customer sees: both prices, side by side, before deciding.

Which one suits you is a real question, and it is yours

Margins, average ticket, how much of your trade is cash, and how your customers are likely to react all matter more than the mechanics. A model that works well for a liquor store can be wrong for a restaurant on the same street. We are happy to talk through how each would land for your business, and we are not going to tell you there is one answer.

The rules governing these models vary by state and change over time, and card network requirements sit alongside them. We are not the right people to tell you what is permitted where you trade — take that to your own professional advice before you commit to a model, and confirm the current position rather than relying on what was true a year ago.

We have written up the detail already: cash discount and dual pricing explained, and for Florida restaurants specifically, how the fee disclosure works.

Questions worth asking before you buy

What does SAM4sDirect provide?
We sell SAM4S cash registers and point-of-sale equipment, program and configure them before shipment where that work is purchased, and support them afterwards. We are BizTracker POS Inc, trading as SAM4sDirect, in Seminole, Florida. We also review merchant-processing arrangements and advise on payment setup, but we are not a payment processor.
Can I buy the register now if an optional accessory still needs verification?
Usually yes. If the register and what ships with it are verified, the base system stays available and only the optional extra waits on confirmation, so you do not have to hold up the whole order for an accessory. If the unresolved item is something your workflow depends on, we check that first, because recommending a complete system we have not confirmed would be selling you a guess.
What is included with a SAM4S cash register?
Current SAM4S cash registers sold by SAM4sDirect include a cash drawer. Beyond that, inclusions are specific to the model, so each product page lists exactly what ships in the base price. Where something is included it is shown as included, and it is never sold back to you afterwards as an add-on.
How do I know which register is right for my business?
Answer a few questions about how you actually sell, what you ring up, and what has to connect to it, and we will point you at a direction rather than a catalogue. Rough answers are absolutely fine, and not sure is a normal answer to any of them.
How do I know whether a scanner, printer, display, scale or other peripheral is compatible?
Every pairing carries one of four states: included in the base price, verified compatible, a supported peripheral type where the class works but that exact model is not proven, or verification required. Verified compatible means a person weighed the evidence and authored that verdict. It is never inferred from a spec sheet at page-load time.
What does Verification required mean?
It means we have not confirmed that exact combination yet, so we route you to a person before taking your money. It is a normal and valid outcome rather than something going wrong, and we would rather check first than have it not work on your counter.
Can SAM4sDirect program and configure the register before shipment?
Yes, where programming has been purchased. We confirm the programming scope and accessory compatibility before shipment, and if the work turns out to need more than the original scope we identify the applicable service and quote it before substantial work begins.
What information is needed for programming?
Items and PLUs, prices, departments, tax settings, clerks or users, and tender and payment settings. You are responsible for the accuracy of what you give us, so please review the programming before relying on it in a live shift. We will tell you what is missing rather than invent it.
What support is included after purchase?
New equipment purchased from SAM4sDirect includes 90 days of standard support beginning on the date of delivery. That covers basic setup, normal operation, clarification or correction of programming we supplied, and troubleshooting of the equipment you bought from us. Support is available Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern.
What happens after the included 90-day standard-support period?
Work beyond the included scope is available as paid support at $100 per hour, or $50 for a 30-minute block where available, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Eastern. If a request falls outside what is included, we say so and quote it before doing the work rather than letting you find the boundary on a busy afternoon. Our Programming and Support Policy sets out the full scope.
What warranty applies to the equipment?
The applicable manufacturer's standard warranty generally applies, and the manufacturer's own terms control. We do not publish a warranty length for a product unless we have verified it for that product, because a number that turns out to be wrong is worse than no number. SAM4sDirect does not provide a separate general hardware warranty of its own. Warranty and support are independent: support does not extend a warranty, and a warranty does not include programming labour.
Can opened or programmed hardware be returned?
Yes. Eligible hardware may be returned within 30 days of delivery, and that includes opened hardware and equipment we programmed or configured for you. Having us program a register does not cost you the ability to return it, and there is no restocking fee. Software, activation codes, subscriptions and licences are not returnable once sold, but that does not make the hardware they came with non-returnable.
What if the product arrives defective, damaged or incorrect?
Tell us promptly. If equipment appears defective on arrival, or fails within 10 days of delivery, we handle it ourselves rather than sending you to the manufacturer. We may troubleshoot first, because a register that is not working is very often not a broken register. Where we confirm the item is defective we pay the return freight and resolve it by replacement, repair or refund. Shipping damage is handled separately: tell us quickly and keep the packaging, because discarded packaging can stop a carrier claim being resolved.
Can SAM4sDirect help replace an older or discontinued SAM4S or Samsung register?
Often, yes. Tell us the model you have and we will give you the current replacement direction and what needs to be confirmed before ordering. For some older models, including a number of Samsung-era registers, there is no published one-to-one successor, because the right answer depends on which functions you still use. In that case we say so and it is worth a short conversation rather than a list.
