Hardware stores carry thousands of small parts, so item capacity is the first thing to check. Many items are barcoded, but loose fasteners, cut-to-length goods and bulk items are not. A high-capacity register handles the scanning and uses departments for the rest. Stores that need purchasing, reorder points or contractor accounts usually outgrow a register.

Programming is optional. Choose Programmed & Ready on the register page and we add one hour of standard programming and setup for $100: tax rates, departments, items and prices, clerks, keyboard layout and your receipt header, with a basic configuration review before the register ships. Choose Register Only to set it up yourself. Large item files, data transfers from an old register and unusual peripherals may need extra time, quoted separately.
You do not have to change processors to buy a cash register. Any register here can be used with a separate card terminal and your current processor. If you want to compare your processing, we can review standalone, semi-integrated or integrated payments, and pricing such as interchange-plus, flat rate, dual pricing or cash discount, as a separate step after the register is chosen.
Eligible approved merchants may qualify for a rebate of up to $500 toward eligible equipment, programming, setup or approved switching costs when setting up merchant processing through SAM4sDirect. The actual rebate depends on processing volume, merchant approval, program availability and the final equipment and processing package. A rebate is not guaranteed until eligibility and the final program are confirmed.

Tell us the make and exact model of the register you have now (SAM4S, Samsung, Casio, Sharp or another brand), with a photo of the keyboard and a sample receipt. We match the keyboard style, printer arrangement, item count and connected equipment to a current model, and say plainly when an old program cannot be moved across directly.

The ER-925E, ER-945E and ER-915E hold up to 22,000 items and the SPS-345 over 19,000. If your barcoded range is larger, compare a POS system.
Ring them to departments or preset keys with a typed quantity or price, so they still appear in reports without a barcode.
No. Charge accounts, statements and special orders need a POS system.
Most hardware stores benefit from one for packaged goods. We confirm the scanner, cable and port for your register model.
Programmed & Ready adds one hour of standard programming and setup for $100. A large item file takes longer and is quoted separately.
Send us what you sell, roughly how many items, whether you scan barcodes and how you take cards, and we will recommend a current register and tell you what we still need to confirm. SAM4sDirect responds during normal business hours, Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM.
