Choose the ER-260EJ when
- You prefer a traditional raised-key keyboard.
- The business is retail or service oriented and operators are comfortable with conventional register keys.
- You want the electronic-journal format without paying for a second internal journal printer.
Choose the ER-265EJ when
- You prefer a flat programmable keyboard.
- The counter uses many preset items, menu keys or labeled functions.
- You want the same general electronic-journal direction but a keyboard better suited to menu-driven operation.
Can both use a barcode scanner?
Both models document USB scanner support. The scanner still has to be compatible with the register, and the barcode/UPC must be programmed to the correct item or PLU.
Do I need the ER-900E or SPS-300 family instead?
Move up when the business needs more advanced register capacity, different printer options or features that exceed the ER-260EJ/ER-265EJ platform. The correct upgrade depends on the actual checkout workflow.

Do the current ER-260EJ and ER-265EJ have Ethernet?
Yes. Current CRS SKUs 950084 and 950085 include Ethernet along with three RS-232C serial ports and one USB port. CRS lists the Ethernet connection for DC Direct/semi-integrated payment workflows. Exact payment and peripheral compatibility still has to be verified by device, processor, cable/interface and programming.
