Flat keyboard or raised keyboard?
Choose a flat programmable keyboard when the counter is menu-driven and benefits from many labeled preset positions. This is often useful in restaurants, delis, cafés and other food-service environments.
Choose a raised-key keyboard when the workflow is more item-driven and operators prefer traditional physical keys. This is often a better fit for retail, barcode-oriented checkout and stores replacing an older raised-key register.
Single printer or dual printer?
A single-printer model is simpler when you only need the customer receipt and are comfortable using the register's electronic journal/reporting workflow.
A dual-printer model adds a second internal print station so the register can maintain a printed journal as well as the customer receipt. That is useful when the business specifically wants a physical audit/journal roll.
Important: a dual-printer cash register does not automatically give you a kitchen printer. Kitchen or remote printing uses a separate external printer and still depends on model, interface, cable and programming.
ER-920E vs ER-940E
Both use a flat programmable keyboard and Ethernet. The difference is printing: the ER-920E is the single-printer model; the ER-940E is the dual-printer model. Choose based on whether you actually need a separate printed journal.
ER-925E vs ER-945E
Both use a raised-key keyboard and Ethernet. The ER-925E is the single-printer version; the ER-945E adds the second internal print station for receipt-and-journal printing.
Which ER-900E model is best for retail?
For retail and barcode-oriented checkout, start with the raised-key ER-925E or ER-945E. Choose the ER-945E only if the business wants the second internal journal printer.
Which ER-900E model is best for a restaurant or deli?
For a menu-driven counter, start with the flat-key ER-920E or ER-940E. The flat keyboard gives more flexibility for labeled preset keys. If you need kitchen printing, treat that as a separate external-printer requirement rather than choosing the dual-printer model for that reason.
What about barcode scanners, scales and payment terminals?
The register choice is only one part of the checkout. If the business uses a scanner, scale, external printer or integrated payment terminal, confirm the exact peripheral/interface path before ordering.
