What a pet store counter needs
- Scanning for packaged goods. Pet food and supplies come in many brands, flavors and bag sizes, and each barcode is a separate stored item. Count them before choosing a register.
- Departments for services. Grooming, self-wash or nail trims can be rung to service departments or preset keys, so they show separately in reports.
- Bulk treats by weight. If you sell treats or feed by weight, decide whether a stand-alone price-computing scale is enough or the scale must connect to the register, and tell us the scale so we can confirm it.
- Taxes. Services, food and supplies may be taxed differently in your state. List the rates so departments are programmed correctly.

Have it Programmed & Ready before it ships
Programming is optional. Choose Programmed & Ready on the register page and we add one hour of standard programming and setup for $100: tax rates, departments, items and prices, clerks, keyboard layout and your receipt header, with a basic configuration review before the register ships. Choose Register Only to set it up yourself. Large item files, data transfers from an old register and unusual peripherals may need extra time, quoted separately.
Card processing is optional, and may come with up to $500 back
You do not have to change processors to buy a cash register. Any register here can be used with a separate card terminal and your current processor. If you want to compare your processing, we can review standalone, semi-integrated or integrated payments, and pricing such as interchange-plus, flat rate, dual pricing or cash discount, as a separate step after the register is chosen.
Eligible approved merchants may qualify for a rebate of up to $500 toward eligible equipment, programming, setup or approved switching costs when setting up merchant processing through SAM4sDirect. The actual rebate depends on processing volume, merchant approval, program availability and the final equipment and processing package. Replacing an older register?
Tell us the make and exact model of the register you have now (SAM4S, Samsung, Casio, Sharp or another brand), with a photo of the keyboard and a sample receipt. We match the keyboard style, printer arrangement, item count and connected equipment to a current model, and say plainly when an old program cannot be moved across directly.

What cash register is best for a pet supply store?
Most pet stores start with a raised-key register that supports a barcode scanner and has enough item capacity, such as the NR-510RBE or ER-925E. Choose the ER-945E or SPS-345 if you want a printed journal.
Can I ring grooming services on a cash register?
Yes. Services can be programmed as departments or preset keys so they ring quickly and appear separately in reports. Appointment booking needs separate software.
How do I sell bulk treats by weight?
Use a stand-alone price-computing scale, or confirm a connected scale with us for your register model before you order.
Can the register run a loyalty program?
No. Loyalty programs and customer records need a POS system; a register records the sale.
Can the register arrive programmed?
