Description

The CAS SW-10RS is a POS interface scale and a portion control scale in one. It sits on the counter, weighs the item, and sends the weight into the transaction on a connected register or POS system, so nobody keys a weight by hand.

Best for

  • Restaurants, cafeterias and delis portioning by weight
  • Farmers' markets and produce counters
  • Ice cream, candy and specialty food counters
  • Counters short on space, thanks to the small footprint

Capacity and readability

Units SW-10RS
lb 10 x 0.005 lb
oz 160 x 0.1 oz
kg 5 x 0.002 kg
g 5000 x 2 g

All four units are switchable on the display. POS and ECR communication carries lb, kg and oz only - grams are display-side only, which matters if you sell by the gram.

Displays

  • 5-digit LCD, 1 inch high, with Stable, Zero, Net and Batt indicators
  • Customer rear display included
  • Keys: Zero, Tare, Unit, Power

Interface

RS-232, on a 9-pin DB female connector.

An interface cable is not included. CRS states this explicitly for item 150118. The correct cable depends on the serial port on your register or POS terminal, and we confirm which one you need before anything ships.

Power

Runs from DC 9V using six 1.5V cells, or from the AC adapter, which is included. Roughly 1000 hours on alkaline cells. Power consumption 0.25 W.

Physical

  • Stainless steel platter, 9.05 x 7.48 in (230 x 190 mm)
  • Unit 10.23 (W) x 11.29 (D) x 5.39 (H) in / 260 x 287 x 137 mm
  • 6.92 lb / 3.14 kg
  • Operating temperature 14 to 104 F (-10 to 40 C)
  • Measurement by load cell, auto power off, soft-touch tactile keyboard

Approvals and warranty

Legal for trade, NTEP CoC #99-002. One-year warranty.

Options

  • Full body protective cover
  • Large platter
  • Serial cable

Register compatibility verification required

The SW-RS family lets you select an ECR protocol type, including an NCI General mode used by many POS systems and ECRs. That is protocol evidence - it is not proof that any particular register model will work with this scale. Send us your exact register or POS model and we will confirm the protocol, the port and the correct cable before you order.

Compatibility

What we have verified so far.

What still has to be confirmed for your counter:
  • The manufacturer documents this at the series family level, not as a guaranteed match for one exact configuration.
  • The exact port and connector on your equipment has to be confirmed.
  • The exact cable has to be confirmed.
  • Port programming and device settings have to be confirmed.
  • The intended workflow has to be confirmed before anything is ordered.

Compatibility status: Verification required. We confirm the exact configuration before recommending or shipping equipment.

What can be added to this register

These are the connections and peripheral types the manufacturer documents for this model.

Documented connections

  • RS-232, 9-pin DB female

Read this before you buy an accessory

This tells you what kind of device the register supports. It does not tell you that a particular scanner, printer, scale or display will work with it — that depends on the exact model, cable, port programming and firmware, and still has to be confirmed. The accessories we have actually verified for this register are listed below.

Check compatibility

Complete your system

Take card payments through the same system

Integrated payments mean the card terminal and the register talk to each other, so the sale is entered once and the totals agree at the end of the day.

Enter the sale once

No keying the total into a separate terminal, and no reconciling two sets of numbers because someone typed it twice.

One setup, one support call

The register, the peripherals and the payment side are set up together, so when something needs attention there is one number to ring.

Checked against each other first

We verify the register, the processing program and the integration path as one combination before recommending it, rather than assuming parts fit.

A processor change is not required to buy equipment. If you are already taking cards, send us a recent statement and we will tell you plainly whether a change is worth making.
